    Succulent Bowls and Greenery Arrangements

    A succulent bowl is a stylish, easy-to-care-for option for your front entry or indoor living space. These plants are drought tolerant and provide a colourful, contemporary aesthetic throughout the year. Succulent bowls are also extremely functional as you can move them around if you want to change your home’s look or if your plants need more sunlight. When growing succulents, remember to have fun and show some creative flair. Consider the following when deciding to incorporate a succulent bowl into your space;

    Colour & texture: There are lots of colors, tones, and textures to choose from, so don't feel limited to cacti. Some beautiful flowering varieties include Delosperma, Echeveria, and Kalanchloe, which can add bold splashes of pink, orange, red, or yellow to your home. A mix of spikey, smooth, wavy, tall, short, or cascading succulents provides a sculptured display of foliage. Crassula undulata, also known as Jade plant, has a stunning wavy leaf that is great for borders and large containers. There are over four hundred species of succulents in Australia, so the hardest part for us is narrowing down our selections to give a clean but varied look. We use complementary colors and stick to a three-tone color palette for a contemporary look.

    Planting & Care:  Water succulents minimally, depending on the season. In winter, water when the soil is dry, which may be once a month. In summer, water every couple of weeks. Consider bringing succulents inside during winter, as many don’t like cooler temperatures.

    Allow for adequate drainage by drilling a hole in your container and include stones at the base of the bowl. Succulents love sunlight, so choose where your plants will live accordingly. They don’t need a lot of fertiliser, so if you apply a slow-release fertiliser in spring, it will maintain your succulent throughout summer.

    Fill any gaps that develop with propagated cuttings. Cut off leaves attached to the main stem, and allow them to dry for 3 days so the ends form a callus. Wait for roots to appear, then plant.

    Choose a theme; Try something different like choosing interesting containers like painted bowls, recycled materials like timber antique boxes or a glass terrarium to add flair to your indoor or outdoor succulent display. Stone or terracotta pots can be used if you prefer a more classic look. Features like stones, crystals or decorative pebbles can enhance your visual display, or you can opt for our favourite, the more minimalist look.

    Succulent bowls, whether for yourself or to give as a gift, are fun and allow you to let your creativity shine. We can incoprorate any design elements you would like, whether they be colours, textures or varieties - just make a note or send a message to us when you place an order.
